How To Read Guitar Tabs

Learning how to read guitar tabs is a very simple and effective procedure. It saves you the tedious task of having to learn to read standard music notation.

Learning to read standard notation requires a lot more time and effort on your part, where as learning how to read guitar tabs will only take you a few minutes to understand.

Standard notation for the guitar is a five bar staff where notes are placed to represent a pitch (note ex. F#, A.....) and also states the time
value of that pitch (note).

Guitar tab on the other hand has a six line staff representing each string of the guitar. Numbers are placed on one or more of the 6 staff lines showing you what strings and what frets to play.

Learning how to read guitar tabs is something that will not take up a lot of your time. It can be a great tool if you are just learning to play.

If you don't have the time or patience to learn to read standard notation, which can take years of practice.......or if you don't have a teacher to take guitar lessons from, then you will find this a quick way to learn to play the guitar.
